Last night I had the great pleasure of attending the Opening Night Performance of the Oro Valley Theatre Company's production of Steel Magnolias, directed by Judi Rodman. The cast and crew did a phenomenal job putting together a really impressive show for a packed house, with a lot of laughs and even some tears. It's been a while since we've all had the opportunity to attend a live theater event, and I'm so grateful that we have such a wonderful venue like the Gaslight Music Hall right here in our own backyard.
I'm always struck at events like this by just how supportive our community can be. If there was an empty seat in the house, I didn't see it. And based by the amount of applause at the end, I would say that everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did. It's heartwarming to see not only such talent on stage, but such support of a local business, which is the type of spirit that is extremely important to the future of keeping our community strong. Oro Valley has so much to offer, and after an event like last night's it's hard not to be excited about our future.
I believe there are a couple shows left, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who can attend. Their website is www.orovalleytheatrecompany.com
